THE TGA TRAVEL GOLF LEAGUE IS BACK THIS SPRING

OUR HOME COURSES WILL BE RIVER VALE CC AND THE MEADOWS GOLF CLUB*

*River Vale will host tryouts; The Meadows will host matches (and the location of practices is still being determined)

Tryout #1: Monday, 3/27 (Maximum of 12 Players) - tee times starting at 5:10pm

Tryout #2: Wednesday, 3/29 (Maximum of 12 Players) - tee times starting at 5:10pm

All these dates are subject to change depending on weather and course conditions

SCRAMBLE DIVISION: 10-12

SHAMBLE DIVISION: 13-15

The tryouts are open to experienced junior golfers, boys and girls, ages 10-15.  We look forward to many returning players, as well as some new ones.

All matches and tryouts are 9 holes. Kids are required to walk. They can carry their own bag or use a push cart. We suggest that a child that tries out should have played on a golf course before and can score no worse than 55 on 9 holes. All competitions will be on Sundays in the late afternoon.

Exact tee times will be emailed prior to the tryouts/matches. Depending on number of players, tee times can go as late as 6:00pm. Please keep in mind that everything is subject to change. 

Formats

• For tryouts, everyone will play a shamble, where all people in the group hit a drive, the best one is chosen, and then players play their own ball in from there until the ball is holed or a max score is reached. This way everyone has their own score and will be judged based on that score. 
• Once on the team, the formats will be:
  • The 12-15 division will play a 2 person shamble best ball format from a golf course approximately 2,500 yards
  • The 10-12 Division will play a 3-4 person scramble format from a golf course approximately 1,500 yards
• Formats and Divisions are Subject to Change

League Structure

• There will be 2 age divisions, 10-12 and 12-15
• There are limited spots, so if we get a certain number of players, there will be cuts
• The travel team will play 4 matches, have 4 practices on the week of each match (Day of Practice: see below), and an end-of-season awards banquet
• IF YOUR CHILD DOES MAKE THE TEAM, PLEASE REVIEW THE DATES BELOW AND ONLY COMMIT TO THE TEAM IF YOU KNOW YOU CAN MAKE ALL THE MATCHES
• The teams will be selected based on a combination of factors, including but not limited to:
  
  • The score of each player on the day of the tryouts
  • TGA staff's knowledge of each player's skill level
  • Etiquette displayed on and off the course
• If, for any reason, a Travel Team player cannot play on a particular day, or does not wish to join the team, the next player in line will be called up if we have a waiting list
• The next 3 players in line will be offered the opportunity to register as an alternate which will allow them to practice with the team and fill in for any player that cannot make it to a particular match
• The Travel Team fee will be $425 for the season
